Terraform Labs Founders Arrested for Forgery in Montenegro

• Terraform Labs Co-founder Do Kwon and CFO Charged with Forgery by Montenegro Prosecutors – Do Kwon and Han Chang-joon, Terraform Lab’s co-founder and chief financial officer, are accused of forgery by prosecutors in Montenegro.

Terraform Labs Co-founder & CFO Charged with Forgery

Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs, and its chief financial officer Han Chang-joon have been charged with forgery by prosecutors in Montenegro. The pair were taken into custody by police in March after they attempted to leave the country using false Costa Rican passports. They remain under arrest while authorities consider their extradition requests from both the United States and South Korea. Singapore, where Terraform Labs was incorporated has yet to make an extradition request.

Police Arrest in Montenegro

Do Kwon and Han Chang-joon were arrested at an airport near Podgorica, Montenegro when authorities discovered that they had used false travel documents while attempting to board a flight to Dubai. This ended a six month period of hiding from disgruntled investors who may have wanted to harm them according to interviews with Do Kwon himself.

Extradition Requests from U.S & S.Korea

The US Department of Justice has already submitted an official request for extradition along with South Korea’s government as well. It is now up to a local judge within Montenegro to ultimately decide whether or not extradition should take place based on factors such as “gravity of crimes committed,” location where offenses occurred,” sequence of requests”and citizenship.”

Singapore Extradition Request Pending

Although no official request has been made yet by Singapore’s government, given that this is where Terraform Labs was incorporated it could be likely that one might be on its way soon enough depending on the result of any potential extraditions issued from either the US or Southerly Korean governments first .
